Learning Target: I can identify and create different types of film sound, including ADR, Foley, sound effects and ambience, to build an original soundtrack.
In this lesson, you'll learn how professional sound designers create sounds for movies. You'll then begin recording and gathering the sounds needed for your Blade Runner scene.
Estimated Time: 60-80min
MUST DO:
Work independently or with your project partner.
1. WATCH — FOLEY & ADR
Watch the two short videos introducing professional sound-design techniques.
Foley: Performing and recording sounds that match actions on screen, such as footsteps, clothing and objects.
ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement): Recording replacement dialogue after filming and synchronizing it with the actors' performances.
Pay attention to how sound designers use timing, recording techniques and everyday objects to create convincing sounds.
2. REVIEW YOUR SOUND DESIGN PLAN
Open your Sound Design & Production Plan in your booklet
Review the five types of audio you will use:
ADR
